Outboard, on starboard is the water tight door that leads to the ladder down to access the canard room, and pump room. This access trunk is one of two trunks used to get to the starboard underwater hull. The steep, but not vertical angle and low overhead makes this awkward to descend, and move equipment in and out.
This room also contains chillers that create cold water to be circulated in heat exchangers. This is needed to remove heat from tiny underwater hulls that have poor natural circulation through the access trunk, but a lot of heat generating equipment, motors, reduction gear, etc.
View down the access trunk.
The photo does not adequately convey the low overhead and awkward angle in the access trunk.
